My Dear Parishioners,

This past week, after all the Holy Week services, and before leaving to marry my niece in Ireland, I read Pope Leo’s first Easter message, which was a powerful call for peace amidst global conflicts.

In a summary of his message, Pope Leo had some words of hope;

On this day of celebration, let us abandon every desire for conflict, domination, and power, and implore the Lord to grant his peace to a world ravaged by wars.

God loves us, all of us, evil will not prevail. We are all in the hands of God. Without fear, united, hand in hand with God and among ourselves, we will go forward. We are disciples of Christ, Christ goes before us, and the world needs His light. Humanity needs Him like a bridge to reach God and His love, to build bridges with dialogue and encounter so we can all be one people always in peace.

We have to look together how to be a missionary Church always open to receiving with open arms for everyone open to all, to all who need our charity, our presence, dialogue and love.

Pope Leo invited everyone to join him in a prayer for peace vigil at St. Peter’s Basilica on April 11th, whether virtually, or in chapels, or before the Lord present in the quiet of our hearts as we pray for peace in our world.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

As a part of their two-year preparation process, the children in our Religious Education Program will be on a First Communion Retreat on the morning of Saturday, April 18th at the Carondelet Center. This is a chance for the children to deepen their understanding of the Eucharist and to reflect on and get ready for the joyful moment of receiving Christ in the Eucharist on May 16.

Please remember in your prayers. our long-time Corpus Christi parishioner, Art Maffei, whose funeral will take place on Thursday, April 16 at 1:00 pm at Holy Cross Mortuary in Culver City .
