WHAT'S
GOING ON

CORPUS CHRISTI
CHURCH
My Dear Parishioners,
May is the month when we, as Catholics, traditionally turn our attention to Mary, the mother of Jesus.
Over a period of two thousand years, many wonderful, pious devotions have grown from the people with a wonderful affectionate love and admiration for Mary.
When I look back on my childhood, my family’s devotion to Mary became a part of my life. Whether it was the family rosary around our kitchen table, or the Novena to Mary at the local Dominican church, the traditions became part of who we were.
Mary is an inspiration for each of us as we walk the road of faith and we struggle to impart our Christian values and ideals to our children in a very cynical and secular culture.
During her earthly life, Mary was not spared the pain or the anguish which can accompany parenthood and family life. As a young married women her husband died, and as her life as a single mother continued, her Son was arrested put on trial, punished, crucified, and died. And she, as a mother, went through all those agonies and experiences.
She is truly a great model for us as we try to live our daily lives with the knowledge that, despite disappointments, abandonment, fear, and suffering, we can be sure that God is with us on the journey and that we are never alone.
Siempre Adelante,
Monsignor Liam Kidney
Pastor

We are happy to announce, you are now invited to come into the church to light votive candles at our Blessed Mother shrine for your own intentions, or in memory of your loved ones.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE A MASS SAID FOR SOMEONE?
A lovely way to remember a deceased loved one, a recently deceased friend, parent of a friend, or relative, or someone who is ill, or perhaps just a friend you would like to honor, is to have a Mass said for them. Each day and weekend a Mass is offered in memory of a deceased person, or for the intentions of someone who is ill, or perhaps whose birthday is that day.
If you would like to have a Mass said for someone, you can contact the parish office at 310-454-1328, come in person, or email jane@corpuschristichurch.com with the name of the person, if they are deceased or living, and if you are requesting a specific date. Please note that the annual Mass book fills up quickly, and often specific dates are booked well in advance. You can pick up a card to send to the person or their family so they will know when the Mass is being said, and that you are thinking of them. We can also mail the card for you. We would love to honor your request, so give us a call!
As always, our priests are available to anoint those who are very ill and to bury the dead.
Please call the parish office, 310-454-1328, and you will be directed to our emergency pager number.
God Bless You All
and Keep You Well!
Please support our local advertisers
Especially during this time of uncertainty during the pandemic, it is important that we support our local businesses, some of whom advertise in our Corpus Christ bulletin and some are Corpus Christi parishioners. A list of local advertisers can be found on our website. We have included the link: https://www.corpuschristichurch.com/html/local-advertisers.html
