Recover – Rebuild
Join us for Mass this Sunday, May 11, 9:30 am at St. Joseph Chapel, Carondelet Center
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!!
My Dear Parishioners,
Some of you may have watched on your televisions this morning as, under the gaze of Michelangelo’s wonderful frescoes, the 133 cardinals taking part in the 2025 Conclave entered the Sistine Chapel and the ancient ritual to elect the Pope officially began.
Each one of the cardinals took the oath of secrecy that binds them during and after the conclave (from the Latin, with key) while placing their hand on the Book of the Gospels. “So help me God and these Holy Gospels which I touch with my hand,” each one declared.
After that the doors of the Sistine Chapel closed with the proclamation, Extra omnes – everyone out, and all non-essential personnel exited.
PARISH NEWS: After examining some options, the committee that was formed with school parents and with parishioners to search for a temporary location for the school, chose as the best fit the St. Augustine School Building in Culver City, which will become available after they close in June. This site provides a ready-to-use school facility and allows us to maintain our identity as Corpus Christi School.
SAVE THE DATE: Sunday, June 1st, 9:30 am Mass, Carondelet Center, Archbishop Gomez will join us to celebrate Mass in Honor of the 75th Anniversary of Corpus Christi Parish
PLEASE REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS our parishioner, Braun Levi, 18 years old, who was struck by a car and died on Saturday night. Braun is a Corpus Christi graduate who was scheduled to graduate from Loyola High School next month and was set to attend the University of Virginia in the fall.
A celebration of life for Brun has been planned for Saturday, May 10, at 6:00 p.m. at Loyola High School. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the "Live Like Braun" scholarship fund. Please note the name "Braun Levi" in the designated gift field.
Also, please remember and pray for Jeremy Hernandez, 19-year-old cousin of our Maintenance Director, Thony Canizales, who was killed in a car accident this past weekend.
In our sorrow may we find hope in the unending mercy of God.
Siempre Adelante,
Monsignor Liam Kidney
Pastor
