My Dear Parishioners,
The church year comes to an end this Sunday with the Solemnity of the Feast of Christ the King, one of my favorite feast days because my high school was named after Christ the King.
The readings focus heavily on the theme of the kingdom of Christ, which was foreshadowed by the kingdom of David in the Old Testament.
All the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said, “We are your own flesh and blood. In the past, while Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel on their military campaigns. And the Lord said to you, you will shepherd my people Israel, and you will become their ruler. When all the children of Israel came to David in Hebron, King David made an agreement with them before the Lord and they anointed him as the King of Israel.” 2 Samuel 5:1-3
Here we are in 2025 and recognizing Jesus as our King. Our whole life’s journey leads us to the kingdom of Christ and someday we hope to be worthy to be in the presence of the King in our home in heaven.
So, my friends, as we end the church year 2025, we look back with all kinds of feelings – good and bad. And we look forward full of hope knowing that Christ the King will lead us on to a greater victory.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Siempre Adelante,
