Elsy has been involved with youth ministry since 2001. In her freshman year of high school, she took on leadership roles in student council, campus ministry and during her senior year became commissioner of religious affairs on the Associated Student Body. After graduating from the University of Irvine with a Bachelor’s in Social Sciences, Public and Community Service, she dedicated six months to God by living in a small town in Italy. There she worked a minimum wage job in which all earnings went to room and board. During this time, Elsy met with several youth from the different parts of the world to share her faith and the hopes of creating a united world. Upon her return to California, Elsy put her talents and skills to use by working with teens struggling with mental disabilities and substance abuse. In addition, Elsy has had several years of experience working with youth and living out her faith by involvement in her parish and Catholic Movement, the Focolare.
